ABSTRACT
Hypothesis: Relationships between DHA structure and function are emerging from a range of disciplinary studies in physical chemistry, ecology, deep-sea microbiology, and molecular genetics, and these relationships translate to core biochemical and biophysical principles that dictate the occurrence and distribution of DHA in nature.
