ABSTRACT

Section I reviewed how having HR in the background is part of the reason companies commonly waste people’s abilities, as one significant opportunity for companies to achieve greater results. Chapter 4 presented a new vision for HR, including the need for new skills and roles to meet the challenges involved with optimizing people. As part of the effort to strengthen HR, this chapter takes a look at how to improve each HR process as a foundation to succeeding at creating a new vision for HR. Finding the solution for how to develop a strong HR department certainly includes improving all HR processes. The purpose in redesigning and improving HR practices is threefold:

1. Ensure that each part of the HR processes adds value. When you remove waste and examine the value of each part of every HR process from an internal customer viewpoint, you create the time and resources for activities that have even greater impact on your organization’s overall productivity and bottom line.
