ABSTRACT

Personal boundaries are usually understood to be those lines of silent language that allow a person to communicate with others while simultaneously protecting the integrity of their personal space as well as the personal spaces of those with whom they interact. Beyond that, the language of boundaries transcends individual space to include familial space, cultural space, and even national space. Understanding personal boundaries among individuals of the same culture is hard enough; expanding that concept into a fluid ability to work among different cultures is more complex, and extending the concept still further to include the shared biophysical boundaries between Everyforest and Everycity is the most difficult of all to accomplish-especially for an industrialized people who are increasingly and rapidly isolating themselves from Nature.
