ABSTRACT
History is a reflection of how we see ourselves and thus goes to the very root of how we give value to things. Our vision of the past is shaped by, and in turn shapes, our understanding of the present-those complex and comprehensive images we carry in our heads whereby we decide what is true or false,2 which is probably the best we can do if we see life the same as video artist Bill Viola: “Life is just a brief emergence from the great sea of time.”3
