ABSTRACT
To begin, it must be noted that we do not, in fact, destroy ecosystems as many people intimate, but we do alter them to various degrees. Nevertheless, they continue to function within Nature’s biophysical parameters of cause and effect. In that sense, they function perfectly all of the time. What we do destroy is an ecosystem’s ability to continue producing the products and services we valued it for in the first place. That is the ecological part of the issue.
