ABSTRACT

When coexpressed with human apo AI, the HDL-lowering effect of CETP became even more profound. Compared with wild-type mice, this strain of doubly transgenic mice had a 35 and 66% reduction of HDL-C with and without Zn induction, respectively (3). This enhanced effect may be due to the stronger interaction between CETP and HDL containing human apo AI. The introduction of the human CETP transgene into transgenic mice expressing human apo AII decreased TC and HDL-C after an atherogenic diet was fed, compared with mice expressing apo AII alone.
