ABSTRACT

Introduction Remnant lipoproteins are metabolites of triacylglycerol (TAG)-rich lipoproteins such as chylomicrons (CM) and very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) in the plasma. Recently, the increase in remnant lipoproteins caused by postprandial hyperlipidemia has been recognized as a potent atherogenic phenomenon (1). For example, it was reported that remnant lipoproteins were incorporated into macrophages and accumulated on the arterial wall, leading to premature atherosclerosis (2-6). Therefore, it is important to suppress the elevation of remnant lipoproteins after fat intake.
