ABSTRACT
Perhaps the most important factor for any ambush is the location it is to take place. For the adversary there are a number of factors that must be taken into consideration during the planning phase. Does the potential ambush site allow for the type of attack being considered? Does it allow for the attacker to wait for the victim to arrive without being detected, and in the case of the urban setting, without people becoming suspicious? Does the site provide for a quick and efficient escape after the attack has been conducted (which applies for all but the suicide bomber)? Finally, the most important factor, will the target be at the ambush site within a known time frame?
