ABSTRACT
The application of sunblockers (SPF4, SPF8, SPF15) to albino guinea pig skin offers no significant protection against the inactivation of thioredoxin reductase (TR) (which may represent a major defense system against free radicals in the human epidermis) either by UVA or UV-B radiation (10); oxybenzone seems even to inhibit TR in pigmented subjects.
