ABSTRACT

Excessive foaming is encountered in a surprisingly wide range of applications, especially so in industrial cleaning but also in household products. We have all encountered washing and dishwashing machines with foam coming out of the seals when testing formulations with new surfactant molecules. Many foaming problems are corrected by the simple addition of an antifoam. In general, antifoam effects appear to require that the antifoam be undissolved in the foaming medium.
