ABSTRACT

Household floor-cleaning formulations are usually based on diluted solutions of anionic and nonionic surfactants mixed with builders, such as citrate. Polycarboxylates are widely used in powder detergents for laundry and dishwashing, but rarely in liquid detergents because of their poor solubility in the presence of surfactants, particularly nonionics. This incompatibility is also encountered in attempts to introduce classical polycarboxylates (like polyacrylates) into these formulations.
