ABSTRACT

Introduction -Olefinsulfonates (AOS) are of interest as anionic surfactants in heavy-duty detergents and a wide variety of other applications because of their excellent biodegradability, ecotoxicological compatibility, and good human safety profile. -Olefinsulfonates prepared from petrochemical feedstocks have been known of for a long period of time and extensively studied for their physico-chemical and surfactant properties (1). They are reported to be superior to other surfactants in detergency and antiredeposition effects in cooperation with builders such as phosphate and zeolites (2).
