ABSTRACT

MFIRE was developed for the Bureau of Mines under contract to Michigan Technological University to predict the spread of fumes and other productsof-combustion in a multilevel mine network scenario under real-time constraints (Edwards & Greuer 1982). This mine ventilation computer program was derived from an earlier program released by Michigan Technological University and restructured to include real-time prediction calculations for contaminant spread in addition to steady-state analysis using a least squares interpretation of fan characteristics (as opposed to the Lagrangian interpolation of fan data).
