ABSTRACT

Early in the design process of the North/South Metro Line, a detailed plan for settlement risk assessment has been defined.

The settlement risk assessment studies are used in determining required settlement performances of the construction work and the necessity of mitigating measures. Chapter 3 gives a short introduction on the damage classification as it is used for the North/South Line project. Chapter 4 shows the numerical prediction of the green field settlements due to the excavation of the station box Ceintuurbaan. The role of the GIS is discussed in Chapter 5, both for the design and construction phase, which is followed by the conclusions.
