ABSTRACT
The velocity of each particle may be decomposed into the sum of a mean velocity and of a random component, taking into account the relative motion of the particle compared with the mean value.The concept of granular temperature can be introduced to refer to the mean square value of the instantaneous deviation from the mean velocity. The granular temperature plays a fundamental role in generating pressures and governing the internal transport rates of mass, momentum and energy.
