ABSTRACT
An analysis of the formation and development of coherent structures in a Stokes boundary layer has shown many similarities with that taking place in steady boundary layers (Costamagna et al., 2003). At the end of the accelerating part of the cycle low-speed streaks appear close to the wall and their subsequent dynamics creates a sequence of streamwise vortices of alternating circulation which contribute to the vertical momentum flux.
