ABSTRACT
Logistics underpins the industrialization of production and distribution and enables coordination of human activities. But it is wrong to associate the term logistics only with these processes and those described in the preceding paragraph. At its origin is a Greek word meaning a calculator as well as accountancy. Webster’s dictionary defines logistics (noun, singular) as the branch of military science having to do with moving, supplying, and quartering troops.
