ABSTRACT

The control of the motion of a system of rigid bodies in a central force field by internal forces keeps the total moment of momentum of the system constant. Therefore the strategy of control of such systems can consist only in the redistribution of the moment of momentum between relative motion of the system and motion of its mass centre and (or) in the change of the kinetic energy of the system at the expense of the work of internal forces. An example of control of the motion of the system for which only its kinetic energy changes is the known scheme of the gravyplane [20].
