Main benefits of ECDIS One of the core reasons was the decision support provided by using the ECDIS in all phases of the voyage, from route planning to the end of the voyage. Particularly during passage of shallow and congested waters, ECDIS significantly reduces the workload of the navigator and enhances the situation awareness on the bridge.
