ABSTRACT

BMETs can work in a wide variety of jobs. Many will be part of an in-hospital Biomed department, large or small, but others will work for outside companies providing support to hospital equipment, or doing repairs and calibrations off-site. Equipment vendors and manufacturers need skilled people to do bench repairs of equipment under warranty, to install new technology in hospitals, or to provide technical expertise to sales teams. Being part of the team researching, designing, and building new devices is an exciting and challenging option. The Armed Forces have hospital equipment that needs support and may provide their own training programs for Biomed Techs. Finally, there is a need for people with a talent for education to teach Biomeds in model-specic factory training courses or in the many educational institutions that have BMET programs.
