ABSTRACT
The underlying questions of this chapter are, "Why are we interested in id(5), and what can we say about it?"
First an easy observation. It is apparent that id(Vid(s)) — id(«S), and so we have an analogue with algebraic sets from algebraic geometry which was described in the Preface and motivates much of the theory.
