ABSTRACT

Let q : G GL(n, F ) be a representation of a finite group G in the ndimensional vector space V = F n. The action of G on V extends not just to the polynomial algebra JF[V] but also to the exterior algebra E[V] (see section 6.2) and hence to their tensor product W[V) <S) E[V]. Taking the fixed points of the action of G on W[V]®E[V] gives the ring of invariants (F[V] ®E[V])G which is one of the subjects of this chapter.
