Equation (3.04) is the standard form of differential equation for Case I1 (Chapter lo, pi.2j.
The essence of the approximating procedure is to disregard the term +(C) in (3.04), enabling this equation to be solved in terms of Airy functions. As a preliminary step towards assessment of the errors in representing the solutions of (3.04) by Ai(u2I3() and Bi(u213(), we introduce restrictions on f(x) and g(x) to guarantee continuity of *( I ) .
