ABSTRACT

The present chapter will be devoted to the development of IFS theory from a probabilistic point of view, which departs significantly from the approach taken in the previous chapter. The focus will be kept, once again, on techniques for representing digitized images. However, while we have so far identified images with fixed points of certain contractive transformations of the space of nonempty, compact subsets of the Euclidean plane into itself, we shall now describe ways in which the same images can be identified with probability distributions.
