ABSTRACT

Agrochemicals include fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides. The last three are pesticides.1 The world used 2.1 billion kg of pesticides in 1995,2 with about a fourth of this being used in the United States. The cost of the insecticides and fungicides used in the United States in 2005 was $2.4 billion.3 Out of this world total, 10-25% is used on one crop, namely cotton.4
