ABSTRACT
The main thrust of this chapter parallels that of the last. Chapter 10 introduced a new approach to comparing proportions that gave the same result for the two-sample case, but could be extended to more than two samples or groups. This chapter introduces a new approach to comparing means that gives the same result for the two-sample case, standard deviations unknown but equal, but can be extended to more than two samples or groups.
