ABSTRACT

The universality of Newton’s laws of motion invites their application in a wide variety of situations. Newton himself applied these laws to the solar system and obtained the entire collection of results previously discovered by other means, including Kepler’s three laws of planetary motion. The post-Newtonian physicists and mathematicians applied the same set of laws to the motion of objects on Earth, and a burgeoning of ideas and techniquesideas and techniques that created entirely new branches of mathematics and physics, not to mention other sciences-ensued.
