ABSTRACT

Solid text and design of a single hue can be printed by lay-down of single ink from a printing plate. Half-tone image with different degree of color saturation is produced by applying fine patterns of dots and/or lines on a white background. Paper substrate or the coating of titanium oxide for metal can is often used as white background. Varying degree of dot/line size and density gives different degree of saturation and appearance. Dot size in printing is represented by dots per inch (dpi), also referred as screen. Density of printing refers to fraction of substrate surface covered by the ink.
