ABSTRACT

In the very simplest form of hydroponics, you can grow a tomato plant in a plastic or ceramic pot just as you would many houseplants. However, since tomato plants require more nutrients (they grow more vigorously than houseplants), you should use a larger pot than you would normally use for houseplants. The best size pot would be a deep, three-gallon or five-gallon nursery pot. These pots measure approximately 10 1/2 inches wide by 10 inches deep. and 12 inches by 11 inches for the three-and five-gallon pots, respectively.
