ABSTRACT
Two critical issues that are encountered in the development of a switched Ethernet are the mechanisms by which the performance and security can be improved. We will find in the material that follows that these important things can be accomplished through a divide and conquer strategy that separates hosts on a logical, i.e., virtual, basis.
