ABSTRACT
In this chapter some of the more formal aspects of perturbation expansions will be considered. The rate at which functions approach limit values will be described by comparison with reference functions. Order symbols will be introduced to allow the limiting behavior to be expressed concisely. The behavior of asymptotic expansions will be explored. The occurrence of nonuniformities in expansions will be discussed and the common sources of non uniformities identified.
