This chapter provides a basic understanding of the ion exchange process, ion exchangers, and the terminology associated with the process and its design.
You will notice that the rigorous theory associated with the ion exchange process is absent. We recommend Helfferich’s Ion Exchange (1962) and Weber’s Physiochemical Processes fo r Water Quality Control (1972) to provide a strong theoretical background.
