ABSTRACT

When evaluating workplace ergonomic hazards, it is important to examine four major components of work: workers/operators; workstations and equipment including tools and machinery; the work place environment; and work processes. These components, when considered in their entirety, are referred to as the operator-equipment system. To this point, we have examined the operator-equipment system from the worker/operator perspective. The worker/operator perspective includes both psychological and physiological factors. Why is it important to examine the worker from these two perspectives? There are several important reasons that have been previously discussed.
