ABSTRACT

Hydrocracking catalysts, like most industrial catalysts, can be prepared by a variety of methods. The manufacturing method chosen usually represents a balance between manufacturing cost and the degree to which the desired chemical and physical properties are achieved. Although there is a relationship between catalyst formulation, preparation procedure, and catalytic properties, the details of that relationship are not always well understood due to the complex nature of catalyst systems. For industrial catalysts, the chemical composition plays a decisive role in their performance, although physical and mechanical properties are also of major importance. Catalyst preparation methods are described in more detail in several reviews and textbooks [1-5].
