ABSTRACT
The pulsed sieve-plate extraction column (PSE column) is a column fitted with a stationary cartridge of horizontal sieve plates. The two phases pass though the column countercurrently with pulsation produced by a bellow or other pulsing devices. It has a great advantage over other mechanical agitated extractors while processing corrosive or radioactive solutions because there is no internal moving parts in PSE column. Therefore, it has received considerable attention as liquidliquid extraction equipment for nuclear, hydrometallurgical, and chemical industry.
