ABSTRACT
Alterations in dietary levels of protein, phosphorus, vitamin D, calcium, and electrolytes, such as sodium and chloride, can produce a complex set of interactions. Each of these nutrients can influence the utilization of many other nutrients directly and indirectly. Sometimes the biological ef fect of one of these nutrients can be counteracted or modified by another.
