Site The blastocyst makes contact (7th day) with the proges tational endometrium, and invades it. The implantation site is usually the posterior wall of the cavity near to the fundus uteri. Carbonic anhydrase is abundant here, enhancing local alkalinity and promoting cytolysis by the invading trophoblast.
