ABSTRACT

Concrete construction relies on codes and specifications that aim to ensure basic standards of good practice and minimum requirements for quality. Standard specifications, test methods, and codes of practice play an important role in ensuring that the concrete industry delivers an acceptable product to the market. Aggregates, being generally natural materials, display wide variation in their properties. Despite this, most aggregates can be used to produce acceptable quality concrete although the aggregate properties will be reflected in the concrete properties to some degree.
