ABSTRACT
A c t i v a t e d ca rbon filters have been e m p l o y e d for a d s o r p t i o n of different k i n d s of organics i n n o n sal ine waters since it w a s d e v e l o p e d a n d i n t r o d u c e d b y the U S P u b l i c H e a l t h Service [1,2]. H o w e v e r , the l ack of a d s o r p t i o n a n d deso rp t i on con t ro l i n a d d i t i o n to bac te r ia l a n d o x i d i s i n g attack o n the organics does p lace some l imi t a t ions o n the m e t h o d .
