ABSTRACT

Simple binary systems, such as -In, and their more complex combinations, constitute the basis for most of the

known commercial cast, deformable and granulated alloys. These systems are characterized by different phase diagrams, among which three major

types can be distinguished: eutectics, catatectics, and peritectics. In spite of different chemical compositions of alloys, the basic structural constituents involved in the process of their solidification from the melt are: а -solid solution, eutectic, and crystals of aluminides. It is known that the structure of alloys may be varied over a wide range by changing the solidification conditions. For example, one of the effective methods for improving the structure and raising the properties of materials is high-speed solidification. The great number of experimental studies in this field is testimony of the development of new progressive technologies for producing materials with unique properties [1-3].
