ABSTRACT

A survey of the influence of surface tension on surface and interfacial phenomena is given on the basis of thermodynamic and kinetic arguments. A special emphasis is put in describing adsorption phenomena both at liquid-gas and at liquid-liquid interfaces, and the most recent developments in these domains are discussed. The main methods already used and under development to perform surface and interfacial tension measurements are also given, with a particular reference to experiments performed in M G conditions.
