ABSTRACT
M g 2 L n compound in the M g - G d system is of the same cF24 type as the M g 2 L n com-
pounds in systems with elements of the cerium subgroup. This review of compound
formation in M g - R E systems with elements of the lanthanum series without E u and Y b
shows similar and different features of them. There are similar features amongst all
systems, but the systems with elements of the same subgroup and disposed closer to each
other in the lanthanum series show more similarity in compound formation.
