M L 10 and M L 1 1 . The alloy M L 19 containing neodymium and yttrium as main additives

showed higher corrosion rate than that shown by M L 9 , M L 10 and M L 1 1 , but less than

corrosion rate shown by M L 5 with standard impurities. A l l the mentioned alloys M L 9 ,

M L 1 0 , M L 1 1 and M L 1 9 showed significantly less corrosion rate in the 3% N a C l solution

as compared with the high strength alloy M L 1 2 of the M g - Z n - Z r system. The alloy M L 1 5

of the M g - Z n - Z r - L a system showed the corrosion rate being higher than that of M L 12,

but M L 15 contains the same contents of Z n and Zr with a comparatively small addition of

L a , so that its corrosion is caused mainly by Z n and Zr, but not by L a .
