ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a broad introduction to the social and institutional data collection requirements for managing the urban water environment. Like the bio-physical dimension of the urban water field, the socio-institutional dimension is highly complex and requires specialized skills and competencies. The capacity of socio-institutional systems may enable or constrain the adoption of IUWM, and therefore is an important component of the urban water system that should be investigated and monitored along with the bio-physical dimensions.
