ABSTRACT
2.1 Introduction
In this chapter the derivation of the governing equations of hydrodynamics and mass transport in coastal modelling is introduced. The time-varying coastal problem in general is expressed in terms of partial differential equations with the partial derivatives in both temporal and spatial domains. Moreover, the assumptions involved are presented.
