ABSTRACT

The contribution describes a Virtual Reality (VR) visualisation system that has been developed in the framework of Tunconstruct. The system allows to configure and control a 3-dimensional, stereoscopic, animated and interactive VR presentation of underground construction related data. The presentation is based on modern VR presentation equipment and can be experienced by multiple viewers simultaneously. In particular the system supports the visualisation of geotechnical, geological, simulation and monitoring data. The data are taken from the UCIS particular module, a database storing all relevant data of a tunnelling project. This contribution deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of the developed VR visualisation system.
