ABSTRACT
From the earliest times there has been an interest
to know what the future might bring. At the
personal level, this interest has been demonstrated
through fortune telling practices which might take
many forms such as astromancy, horary astrology,
pendulum reading, tasseography (using tea leaves
in a cup), cartomancy (with cards), tarot reading,
crystallomancy (with crystal sphere), chiromancy
(with palms) or spiritual consultation. At the
organizational level, this interest has been reflected
in future studies, strategic planning, scenario think-
ing and planning, foresight, and futurology.
