ABSTRACT: The paper presents some examples of constitutive modeling under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions. After a brief review of different models for unsaturated soils, a first example is given to highlight the recent advances on constitutive modeling under isothermal conditions. A second example showing how to extend to cyclic loading is presented afterwards. The third example involves saturated soils. It is included in the paper because on one hand the approach adopted complies with the concept of independent stress variables since the temperature is dealt with as the suction in most models for unsaturated soils, and on the other hand, it constitutes the base for the fourth example which deals with the thermo-hydro-mechanical behavior of unsaturated expansive soils.
