ABSTRACT

There are a number of limitations to this approach. Firstly, the class of exposure does not define the aggressive agents in any detail. This is particularly so for the chloride environments where the rate at which chlorides ingress into concrete is a function of their surface concentration. Secondly, if no active curing is provided as is allowable under certain conditions there is an increased risk of deterioration due to carbonation. Thirdly, although curing methods are described, no guidance is given as to their relative efficiency. Moreover, there is no way of assessing how effective the specific curing method has been.
