ABSTRACT
Prof. Khalid Mahmood has been Professor at the Civil Engineering Department, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, since 1985. He obtained PhD degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, on an Australian award under Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan. Prior to his present position, he was Professor and Chairman, Civil Engineering Department, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, where he was also engaged in consultancy services for design, construction, condition survey and repair of concrete structures. His current research interests are in design and construction in developing countries and behaviour of reinforced concrete structures. Prof. Zia-Ud-Din Mian is Professor at the Civil Engineering Department, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He holds an MSc degree from the diversity of Surrey, UK. Besides teaching and research into concrete behaviour, he is actively engaged in consultancy services through the University of Engineering. His current research interests are in the use of locally available materials for making concrete.
